Mr. Cory Sims

Hello, my name is Cory Sims and I am the school counselor at Heights Elementary School. My degree is in Social Work, and I graduated with my Master’s degree in 2011 from Boise State University. I returned to Boise State to secure my School Counseling credential in 2016. I have always worked with children as a professional, and greatly enjoy being around the youth of our community as they explore how to become successful members of society.

I believe that one person can make a huge difference in the life of a child, and I aim my hardest to be a positive role model and influence for all I encounter. At the elementary school level, I provide one-on-one school counseling-based services, group work, classroom lessons, and character trait development for the whole school. Additionally, I provide case management to students with 504 accommodations.

A couple of fun facts about myself include my love for anything outdoors: golf, snowboarding, frisbee golf, camping, biking, fishing, hunting, etc. Otherwise, my only talents include being able to spin a basketball on my finger, and being able to juggle. The elementary school kids seem to   find these talents entertaining, anyway.

I look forward to serving your students and your families on your journey through the school year! I am easy to contact at school, and look forward to working together!
