First Grade

Welcome to First Grade!

Our first grade classrooms are warm, supportive spaces where students grow as confident learners. Instruction follows the Idaho State Standards and supports all areas of early development.

Reading begins with daily phonics lessons that build decoding skills and fluency. Students also practice comprehension and begin writing complete sentences and paragraphs with their own ideas and voice.

In math, students build number sense through hands-on activities. They explore addition, subtraction, place value, measurement, and geometry while learning to solve problems and explain their thinking.

Student progress is monitored regularly to help us meet each child’s individual learning needs.
